Can you just stop taking plaquenil

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

I’ve been on plaquenil for over 20 years and just stopped taking it. I don’t think it has ever helped. I have tested negative on my ANA tests for the last 3 Year’s. Weird because I still have all the pain, plus terrible neuropathy due to autoimmune issues. The drugs are to slow the slide even more but they never stop it and nothing can reverse it. And let me clarify the eye issue. Since you don't have a definite diagnosis yet, the chances of you becoming blind form taking Plaquenil are much smaller than the chance your disease will blind you. There is no way you can just stop taking steroids 3 days before. It can make you very sick, even kill you. Besides that, 3 days will not make any difference in the inflamation they would see. They want to see what is going on right now while you are doing what you normally do. Plaquenil does not need to be stopped either from what my gastro who is excellent said. SHe didnt even want me to stop my aspirin.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.
