Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and anorexia. Mild and transient headache. Skin itchiness, skin color changes, hair loss, and skin rashes. Hydroxychloroquine is a well tolerated medication for various rheumatologic and dermatologic conditions. Its main side effects are gastrointestinal upset, skin rash, headache, and ocular toxicity. Within the eye, hydroxychloroquine negatively impacts the cornea, ciliary body, and retina. Ocular complication is a major long term adverse event of chloroquine. The present study was carried out to determine the ocular side effects of chloroquine in patients with rheumatic diseases.
